Charter Day Special Event March 10-11, 2012
On March 10 and 11, Members of the Holmesburg Amateur Radio Club will celebrate Pennsylvania's 331st birthday by participating in Charter Day events.
Charter Day is the day King Charles of England granted William Penn a charter for land in the New World to make up for a large debt that the king owed to Penn's father. William Penn had initially decided to name the land "Sylvania," which in Latin means 'woods.'
King Charles II added the prefix 'Penn' to the name in honor of William Penn's father, Admiral Sir William Penn, who had served England as a rear admiral.
Holmesburg members will be operating a special event station using the Club call WM3PEN (William 3 Penn) and be on the air both days from 1300Z - 2359Z as band conditions permit.
A special QSL card will be offered. QSL with an SASE, $1 for US, Canada, and Mexico; $2 or IRC for DX. Any donations to help with printing costs are always appreciated, and can be sent along with your QSL request.
Look for WM3PEN around 28.410, 21.310, 18.140, 14.240. Also PSK31 on 21.070 and 14.070.
WAS - VUCC
Getting close to either award, Bob, WA3PZO, has been appointed as an Awards Manager for the ARRL.
Bob will be able to check your QSL cards for either award and forward the application to ARRL Headquarters.
The advantage is that you will not have to send your QSL cards to ARRL.
Here are the instructions for WAS and VUCC.
